Over the last few years in the summer season, burn bans in Eastern Washington have not been unusual. So, it comes as a bit of a surprise to me that the Bureau of Land Management has lifted fire restrictions.

According to KREM.com,
On Tuesday, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lifted all fire restrictions on public lands managed by the agency for all counties in Washington State. While these restrictions are now lifted, BLM is reminding to use caution when using motor vehicles on roads or trails with vegetation or high grasses.’

The Bureau of Land Management is also warning campers to make sure that any campfires are completely out and cold before they leave the campsite.

Also, I think this would go without saying but, fireworks and exploding targets are banned from public lands. Violators of that rule, if they're caught are in for cash fines of up to $1000 and up to one year of jail time or both. (They're not fooling around on this.)

I think it's great that the Bureau of Land Management seems confident that we're out of our wildfire season. I myself am not that convinced. So, I'm just going to cross my fingers and behave myself and hope that everyone else does the same.

Wildfires across the Northwest, and especially in Eastern Washington, have really taken their toll this year. Although we were especially lucky in the Wenatchee Valley so far.

Seriously, keep in mind we're dealing with human beings here.

We have a long and storied history of not taking good advice.

And doing stupid stuff.
