Dairy Queen is bringing back a favorite from my youth

One of the things I remember from my youth. Is when mom and dad would pack the family in the station wagon, and we would go to Dairy Queen. In those days, we didn't go to Dairy Queen for hamburgers or chicken strips or anything like that. We went to Dairy Queen for ice cream and my favorite ice cream was the dipped cone.  

For those of you who may not have enjoyed this treat, basically they do a soft serve cone and then they dip the ice cream cone in a chocolate or cherry coating that becomes a shell surrounding the ice cream. 

One of my favorite pastimes was to bite the top off the dipped cone and then try to suck the ice cream up through it and see how far I could go before the whole thing would implode. 

So, On April 1st, Dairy Queen announced that the cherry dipped cone would be coming back for a brief time. (No fooling.) Now you may be saying to yourself, wait a minute, they've been doing the cherry dip cone all these years. Well, no, not necessarily. A look at the Dairy Queen website shows you that they weren't doing the cherry dipped cone. 

According to msn.com,
‘The perfect spring and summer flavor was also revived last March after customers expressed disappointment when it was discounted in May of 2023.
As usual, the Cherry Dipped Cone will be back for a short period at participating locations, so grab it while you can!’ 

In participating locations. They were making an alternative flavor the crunchin’ cookie dipped cone. My sister Jennifer said she took one of her grandkids to Dairy Queen and they got the crunching cookie dipped cone and were not impressed. 

Well, good news for her and her grandson because the crunch and cookie dipped cone is going away and the cherry dipped cone is back. 

Dairy Queen has another reason to celebrate, and that's 85 years in business, and they're celebrating with a special price on Blizzards, $0.85.  

According to Parade.com,
‘And while the new summer menu is still a week away, fans will be able to take advantage of the 85 cent Blizzard deal exclusively in the DQ Mobile app from March 24 through April 6 with any $1 purchase.’ 

So, the clock is ticking on what could be your favorite treat at Dairy Queen.
