Last Sunday I was walking thought Winco and noticed that Halloween merchandise and candy was now out on the shelves. Some of them were kind of cute like the plush candy corn pillows. At the time I saw this it was not yet September so I thought they might be jumping the gun a little.

Then I was off to Costco, and it looked like they might be done with Halloween, but I did see the Christmas merch out already. What! No dualling banjo skeletons? What is wrong with this place?

When I was a kid, my parents went all out for Halloween. One year Dad built a robot suit that you could get into and walk around in, mu brother Mike got into it and stood on the porch waiting for kids to come up to the door, then he would move and scare them. Sometimes they stayed for candy, sometimes not.

I used to set up speakers on the porch and run scarry music at half speed to set the mood.

Now I have Mort, the skeleton to hang out with here in the office. He’s a cool dude (like room temperature) and he roams around the offices doing his own version of Where’s Waldo. I think it’s too soon to be pushing Halloween, at least wait until the end of September.
