The Velocity Swimming organization is hosting the meet that continues a tradition dating back over 5 decades in Wenatchee
Velocity Swimming team Head Coach Westley Mejias is expecting over 970 swimmers from Washington, Idaho and Canada for the 3-day competition.
According to a news release, the meet provides up-and-coming USA Swimming athletes to measure their progress. The Apple Capital meet is one of the largest outdoor meets in the state of Washington and kicks off what is called the long course season in 50 meter pools, the same size Olympic caliber swimmers train and compete in.
Swim meets also contribute to a significant financial impact on the Wenatchee Valley, estimated by the City of Wenatchee at $1 million in annual economic benefit from hotel stays, local dining and patronizing local businesses.
