Heavy rains and flooding have impacted a number of roads in Kittitas County to start the week.

After being partially closed for nearly three weeks, State Route 20 - North Cascades Highway has fully reopened to all traffic. A nine-mile stretch of the road between Granite Creek and the Easy Pass trailhead had been shut down since August 4 due to hazards and firefighting activity related to the Easy Fire, as well as a large mudslide that brought 7,000 tons of debris onto the road on August 11.

Significant rain on Sunday caused a mudslide inside the current 11 mile stretch of the roadway that's shut down because of the Easy Fire.

After being closed for over a month due to the need for emergency repairs, a seven-mile section of U.S. Highway 2 just east of Farmer will reopen this week. Washington State Department of Transportation spokesperson Lauren Loebsack says the reopening means crews will have finished their work about a week ahead of schedule...
