Recently a bunch of us at work were reminiscing about old beloved restaurants long gone in Wenatchee, Yakima and the Tri-Cities. I brought up one of my favorites as a kid in SoCal wondering if there ever was one in Central Washington. To my surprise, many had great memories of Bob the Big Boy in Wenatchee, that was located on North Wenatchee Ave…until the late 80’s. Some even remember the jingle on TV and radio. “At Bob’s Big Boy. We love good food just like you do.”
I like to drive to Portland by way of Ellensburg, Yakima, and Goldendale, across the Columbia River to The Dalles, and follow I-84 past Hood River to Portland.
I wonder if Washington state officials have thought about making an offer to convince Kris Kringle Corparation to pack the bags and move the whole operation to the Evergreen State?
The days of national chain shops like The Warehouse, Licorice Pizza, and Tower Records are long gone. Ironically it’s the mom and pop record shops that have either survived the new way of buying online or listening via Spotify, or have suddenly sprung up due to the new interest in holding and owning physical vinyl. The closest record shop we found was in Ellensburg. We’ll visit this one here in a bit as we go in search of some of the great record stores in Washington.
