Last year, Brad Kesterson revealed that Wenatchee Valley Rams Head Coach Mickey White decided not to bring back the team and instead planed to retire.

In the absence of the Rams, the Wenatchee Valley Storm were created to take up the mantel of semi-pro football in the Wenatchee Valley.

According to our sister station KPQ, the Wenatchee Valley Storm football team became the eighth new member to join the league for the upcoming GDFL 2023 season.

The Storm will be playing in the Gridiron Developmental Football League’s

Western Impact -  East Division along with some of the following teams:

Everett Royals

Spokane Wolfpack

Tacoma Sabers

The GDFL made its debut in 2010. This is a league made up of adults who never fully gave up the desire to play tackle football.

Head Coach Brad Kesterson says his team consists of both former Rams players and other players who tried out for the squad in October. The Storm will be playing their first season with the goal of qualifying for an opportunity to compete for the GDFL national championship game in Atlanta.

Most of the Storm’s home games will be at the Wenatchee Apple Bowl. The first home game for the WV Storm is June 10th vs. the Washington Warriors, from Tacoma.

My good friend Isaac Martinez (who played high school football for Eastmont) recently reached out to me looking for help with a fundraiser for the team's expensive equipment and travel costs.
