Some times people will come up to me and say, “That’s a true Washingtonian right there! Being able to handle cold weather wearing shorts!” Actually, I’m a warm climate beach boy from SoCal.
Right now I am desperately missing riding my bike on the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail, or as us 509 locals call it The Loop. It is a bicycle and pedestrian trail in Wenatchee, WA. It follows 10 miles of the west and east shores of the Columbia River.
It's only early February in the Wenatchee Valley and the Northern Hemisphere, and even though there are still those six weeks of winter remaining that Punxsutawney Phil predicted, the weather here at home is already starting to feel a lot more like spring with each passing day...
An ice storm closed down I-90 Snoqualmie Pass for about 24-hours heading into Christmas Day, while U.S. 2 Stevens Pass was closed for most of four days during and after the holiday weekend.
This morning on my way to work plus 4 degrees and by the time 7 am rolled around, it was minus 3. Just traveling to the car is a trial. Look I know there are other parts of the country where it’s colder.

A seven-mile stretch of State Route 172 remains closed due to poor visibility from blowing snow and large snow drifts.
The closure is from milepost 14 near the junction of McNeil Canyon Road and milepost 21 west of Mansfield...
