West Coast League Baseball Commissioner Rob Neyer announced the All West Coast League Teams Thursday and seven Wenatchee AppleSox were selected including first team honors for Frankie Carney.
The AppleSox sit 2.5 games ahead of the Victoria HarbourCats for first place in the North Division in the second half after Victoria's loss to the Kelowna Falcons, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon. Wenatchee also has the top overall record in the entire West Coast League at 35-13, a game above the 34-14 Corvallis Knights.
Bellingham scored four times on three hits and three Wenatchee errors in a rough 8th inning. The AppleSox’ seven-game winning streak and 12-game home winning streak both came to an end on Wednesday as they fell at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium in league play for the first time since June 27.
Wenatchee (+58) has now won three straight and holds the tiebreaker over Bellingham (+43) for first place in the North Division due to a higher run differential. The first half ends on Thursday and the team in first place will earn the top playoff spot in the North Division for the postseason.
2023 Fanfest allows fans to watch the team practice and a meet and greet session. The AppleSox will be serving free hot dogs and hamburgers and Let's Color Art is offering face painting for kids.
When I first moved to Wenatchee, everyone would ask me a million questions as if they worked at Dutch Bros. The number one question was, “You just moved here? What brings you to Wenatchee?”
I know, we’re ankle deep in snow and Wenatchee Wild games, but I’m already dreaming of warm summer days and heading over to Paul Thomas Sr. Field for another season with the Wenatchee AppleSox. How odd was seeing an AppleSox post on Instagram with a bunch of photos of the stadium seats covered in snow. It’s like when two seasons collide!
Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a workaholic. I love what I do. It gives me the opportunity to be creative in so many ways. But when I look back at all the things I did in 2022, there were less than a handful of fun things that I did. And they were all work related. I rarely got out. I get out out bed, head into work. After work, I go home, take a shower, go to bed. Are you like me? Eek! I hope not. Maybe you’re not as bad as me. So how can we make a change? It all boils down to two things.
This was an interview I’ve been looking forward to all year. I tried to get a few words with him in his younger days. Of course as the Baby New Year, it was all incomprehensive gaga-googoo gibberish. In his teen days, it was hard to pin him down, for his time is limited. But now that his time is coming to a close, he had something to say. Although his words were few, and sometimes speaking gibberish much like when he was the Baby New Year of 2022.
