To road trip, or not to road trip
Late last week I decided that if the weather were good, I would make a road trip to Seattle to see my daughter Beth and granddaughter Katie. I still owed them their Christmas presents (Baby Yoda) that I had not yet had time to ship to them. Plus, it was a good excuse to go for a long drive.
The first decision I had to make was what route I would take. I could go by way of Stevens Pass but because of the fire near Skykomish this summer I was concerned with possible landslides so I decided to go by way of Blewitt Pass and Snoqualmie Pass, each had no restrictions so Blewitt and Snoqualmie it was.
Before I got on the road, I topped off the window washer fluid in the car, driving over the passes this time of year you use a lot of window washer fluid. The drive over was beautiful and uneventful.
I did stop at the top of Blewitt for a photo. Snoqualmie Pass was also bare and dry for the most part. It’s a little boring but not a bad drive. My only gripe is rude drivers going 10 mph over the speed limit.
I made it to Lynnwood just in time to meet with the girls and have lunch at Red Robbin. Yes, I know that’s a long drive to go to Red Robbin for lunch, I could do that here in Wenatchee but the purpose of the trip was to see the kids not eat lunch.
After lunch, I gave them their presents, and then it was time to go home. The weather had changed and Snoqualmie and Blewitt were a mess so this time decided to take Stevens.
One of the things to remember when driving to Stevens Pass is that there are several towns with speed traps to look out for. Sultan, Startup, and Gold Bar. The drive was beautiful and there were no idiots on the road (except for me). Stevens Pass was traction tires advised but it was no problem and I got home in time to watch some football on the DVR. All in all, a very good road trip.
